Introduction to Social Enterprises

Sheffield, 2015

Synopsis

I was asked to run an evening lecture as part of SkillBuild at the University of Sheffield, an extra-curricular programme centred on developing students’ enterprise skills.

Laura was engaging, clear, and methodical in her explanation, and provided good quality case studies and great resources. She was an interesting speaker with a wide range of knowledge and first-hand experience.

The structure of the presentation was logical and stimulated the focus and the learning. Students learnt how a social enterprise compares to charity or CSR; discussed different business models for social enterprises; and were given an overview of the importance of measuring impact and some examples for how to do this.
